A Present for Cat and Girl
[[Three hipsters dressed in 1920s, 1950s, and 1980s styles standing in a line.]]
[[Three more hipsters dressed in 1930s, 1980s, and 1990s styles.]]
[[Still more hipsters.]]
GIRL: Every day --
[[Yet a few more hipsters, and we see that they are in line waiting for the bus. Cat and Girl are walking past in the foreground.]]
GIRL: {{Speech balloon continues}} it looks like another time traveler convention is in town.
GIRL: Like the last fifty years have been compressed into *right* *now*.
[[Girl gestures with both hands open in front of her face.]]
GIRL: If the past is always present, does either really exist?
[[Girl raises one arm and furrows her brow angrily.]]
GIRL: Why bother moving forward when you can slide infinitely sideways?
[[Cat and Girl continue walking past a cityscape. In the sky behind the buildings, a rocket plummets to the earth. Girl continues scowling.]]
GIRL: It would take a miracle to make *anything* new!
[[A huge, blindingly bright mushroom cloud erupts over the city, silhouetting Cat and Girl.]]
MUSHROOM CLOUD: BOOM
[[The city lies in ruins, from which wisps of smoke rise slowly. Cat looks at Girl. Girl looks at Cat.]]
[[Girl frowns and looks away.]]
CAT: Technically you would only need one time traveler convention.
