Lingering Thoughts From Spring Break in MN Though part of me is still uneasy about moving back home... / [[Athena's room has a comics cupboard and a comics desk.]] / A bigger part of me is looking forward to just having a "regular" job for awhile. / [[Blue Monday sign in the background.]] / It smelled so much like SPRING there! Like I was coming out of fucking Hampshire Hibernation. / It didn't hurt that there seemed to be cute dudes all over. Maybe I'll actually be inspired to get out a little? / Or maybe I'll just stay in and make comics. That'd be good too.

Brain Labor The other night I dreamed I was in labor. / My parents were there with me, helping to keep me calm until the doctor could see us. / There was no father-to-be in sight. Surprise, surprise. / Because the doctor was taking so long, my parents decided to begin the procedure themselves. / Ross Currier: We have to remove part of this cord in your brain. / Athena: Okay, but--but--try not to pull out any more of my brain than you have to please! / I sat there terrified as my parents pulled out more and more of my brain, so that I could become a mother. / Athena: I can't imagine WHAT that dream means, though!

Dog Dreams Last week, I dreamed that some friends and I were trying to sneak into some public building after hours. / I think we wanted to shoot a movie there. / Whatever the building was, it looked huge and dark and threatening. / I told them I'd keep watch while they tried to bust the door open. / I went to stand guard by the fence, but as soon as I got there, a pack of dogs ran up and took up camp just beyond the fence. / Several of the dogs were pit bulls. I was terrified they'd decide to try jumping the fence. / That was when I noticed that the fence was a piece of shit. It was made of flimsy plastic, and about to collapse. / I kept pulling at it with my hands, but I knew it was useless. If the dogs chose to kill us, we would die. / My friends were still trying to open that ominous door. I was scared of what they might find if they got it open. / That's how the dream ended: with the awareness of having something evil behind me, and something evil before me, and trying pathetically to keep it all at bay with that stupid fence. / The next night I just had a sex dream.

Hampshire's mods are named after the towns this reservoir flooded. / ENFIELD, GREENWICH, PRESCOTT / That night we stayed with my aunt and uncle in Sturbridge. I'd left behind my old running shoes, so for the first time in almost 2 months, I couldn't go for a run. / Athena: I feel weird. And not in the good Peter Cole way. / The next day we flew home. / Athena: Everything feels weird here too. But at least I went for a run. / Athena: Also, Dixie has three fewer moles since last I saw her.

Espresso Grounds and Bleach One thing I haven't yet figured out about working in Blue Monday is...WHAT TO WEAR. / You're bound to spill coffee on yourself, so BLACK would seem like a safe stain-concealing color choice. / But you're also using bleach a lot, for cleaning, and the only thing to hide bleach stains is WHITE. / Athena: So...one way or another, you're gonna get stained. / Athena: But Dan told me there's no dress code, so I'm thinking maybe I'll just go naked.
