Burning Party Burning PARTY. At Danno Klonowski's house. Saturday, May 5, 2012. / Sarah Morean: It's actually at the tip of your thing, so please don't put it in my box. / Sarah and Adam are preparing to move across the country in an airstream trailer. So they've been getting rid of stuff. / Athena: Burning the vellum stuff is so fun. / Jamie: I know. Vellum: it's popcorn paper! / Many of us (including Jason, Jamie, and myself) were just there to watch. More Of What We Always Were more of what we always were / Girl 1: I feel like we haven't talked in forever. / Girl 2: I know! I have my own apartment now. / Girl 1: Huh. / Last weekend I went to Diamonds Coffee Shoppe to draw. / Girl 1: So, um. How's that guy? / Girl 2: Oh, we broke up. / Girl 1: Oh. / While I sat there, two pairs of young women came and went. / Girl 1: So, I guess that Avengers movie is supposed to be good. / Girl 2: Yeah. / From my eavesdropping, I gathered that both pairs were old friends catching up. / Girl 1: There's an 11:15 showing in Block E. If we leave right now, we can-- / Girl 2: Let's go. / They seemed awkward, like they'd forgotten how to communicate. / Girl 3: Did you get anything? / Girl 4: Just a salad. / Girl 3: I got a sandwich. / Girl 4: Hmm. / Jason said something about how as we age, we become more ourselves. / Girl 3: So, I hear you're doing a lot of, um, Ultimate Frisbee? / Girl 4: Yeah. / Girl 3: That sounds...fun. / Girl 4: Yeah. / It's like we become more defined, intense versions of what we always were. / Girl 3: I've been thinking a little more about grad school. / Girl 4: Me too. Haven't taken the GRE yet, though. / Sometimes the threads that bound us to our old friends just snap. / Girl 3: I don't think I can eat more than two bites of this. / When you meet up and try to find the old common ground, you actually just find yourself thinking, / "Oh yeah.
