| Better get reading | Glasses: William Shakespeare's influence on literature, language and society is just bonkers. He's everywhere. For all I know, he came up with the expression "just bonkers". Probably not, but he certainly might have. For all I know, he came up with "probably not, but he certainly might have". A lot of his influence comes from him being good at making up stuff. Words, phrases, characters. But a lot of it comes just from the idea that he's super famous. Everyone reads Shakespeare because he is great, but Shakespeare is great because everyone reads him too. You can quote Shakespeare and, chances are, people will be familiar with the quote. Even if they didn't know it was Shakespeare, they will probably be familiar with the quote. Pretty neat. / Here's another thing: Vampires! The idea of vampires is pretty varied from story to story, from mythology to mythology. But while not every vampire might be able to turn into a bat, and not every vampire is a victim of some kind of vampire virus, there are still a lot of common vampire characteristics. Almost all of them are blood suckers, and almost all of them have some sunlight issues, even if that sunlight issue is just glittering. They usually live forever and are sort of undead. And, along with that, they often don't have souls. So that's what vampires are like. / Some dame: Excuse me, but what's the point of all this? This comic has gone on pretty long and you don't really seem that close to a joke punchline. / Glasses: The point is that brevity is the soul of wit, and this joke is a vampire. / {{Mouseover: In some ways, this was as short as I could make this comic.}} / {{Footer: William Shakespeare wrote: / ?If you read all those words, you sure are a super trooper.? / And I think that quote really applies here.}} http://cowbirdsinlove.com/876 |
