/ Tipko: Gone? Well, this is terrible timing. I guess I'll have to call her. This is important.
/ Keeda: I don't think she'll get cell phone reception in Dat?kaln.
/ Tipko: Dat?kaln?
/ Keeda; Yes, she left a note that says she's done to Dat?kaln with A'at. / Tipko: ...Oh, this is bad.
/ Keeda: What? Why?
/ Tipko: Well, normally, going to Dat?kaln alone would just be reckless and foolish, but I'm very worried by the new prevalence of magician alliances. There were three of them working together to capture Kristi. It's almost unheard of for *two* magicians to band together long enough to pull of any complicated operation, let alone three.
/ Keeda; You think Rowan's going to run into a team of magician?

/ Tipko: She's harmless - no use to anyone dead - and a standard collar spell will only work on her for her old owner, whom they have a very limited chance of running into. Rowan they'd be likely to kill outright. / Bid: A "standard" collar spell?
/ Tipko: Yeah, that's the one most magicians know how to do, there are a couple variations that my old owner had started looking into and oh *dani'eh* ...
/ Keeda: Tipko! Your language! / Keeda: What's wrong?

And the magicians usually fight amongst themselves all the time, so getting a group together must be hard. I bet it takes a long time. / Rowan: We saw your owner with one ally before...
/ Rowan: But we took his beads and dumped him through a portal. I doubt he's still around. So this is a new deal.

/ Susie: Can't we help her?
/ Tipko: Maybe, but not until her owner is out of the way. I'll cook up a strategy, but you have to all actually show up to the meetings and stay if they're going to do any good. / Rowan: Bit of a tangent, but can you tell me how my hair redid itself when I transformed?
/ Tipko: Subconscious expectation interacts with magic. You could change any part of your costume if you expected it to change.

/ Tipko: Probably. / Rowan: Is it as bad for non-magician Datekali as it is for pagets?
/ Tipko: Worse in some ways - better in others. For instance, if Keeda and I were Datekali, we'd have been able to get our marriage officiated. / Rowan: You're not officially married?
/ Tipko: Nobody will perform a paget wedding. It's one of the many, many reasons we do not breed well in captivity. Keeda and I just decided to be married; there was nothing ceremonial about it. So, not technically.
/ Rowan: What do you want to bet that if I call Susie right now and tell her that, she'll register herself as a celebrant on the Internet and fly right over here to fix that?
/ Tipko: I'd lose that bet. / Rowan: Keeda, while I'm up, would you like me to get you another celery stalk?
