thistle salad - 000150 - prison planet Lisa Stewart: Ah... Where do I sleep? / Grace Warfield: On the floor. Should I give you the grand tour? / Grace Warfield: [[pointing to the fortress just visible out of the window]] This is the window. You'll notice we have an excellent view of the Paul Dedham Fortress. / Lisa Stewart: The Polly D? DEEP's HQ? / Grace Warfield: The same. And I'm sure we all sleep better knowing that at least one of their sea-facing guns is trained on us at all times ready to send us to hell at the slightest provocation. / Lisa Stewart: I thought we were already there.
thistle salad - 000151 - prison planet Lisa Stewart: Still, it could be worse, right? / Grace Warfield: uh... / Lisa Stewart: We're going to be such great friends, I just know it!
thistle salad - 000152 - a murder of men (prologue) [[Danny Relston's office. Tess Miller is standing in front of him, in uniform. Lena Gwenith is reading a book on the couch behind her.]] / Danny Relston: Brilliant job, Tess. Do you know who this man is? / Tess Miller: I know who he was, sir. I believe-- / Danny Relston: Yes, yes. Pity we didn't get our hands on him earlier. That could have been very... useful. / Danny Relston: [[Voiceover]] Personally, I would rather have a dagger at the Colonel's throat- / [[shows the photographs of his recruits on the desk before him]] / Danny Relston:[[voiceover]] But I am prepared to settle for a thorn in her side.
thistle salad - 000153 - a murder of men (prologue) [[Danny Relston's office]] / Danny Relston: And I have just the person to test them on. A trial run, if you will. / [[He holds up a picture of Anna Bloom and her husband- the caption of the newspaper(?) photograph reads: 'Lawyer Jefferson Bloom attends local charity event with new bride Anna.']]
thistle salad - 000154 - a murder of men (prologue) [[Danny Relston's office]] / Danny Relston: There is one more thing, Miller. / Tess Miller: Yes? / Danny Relston: Your uniform. Get rid of it. You're working for me now. / [[Tense moment- even Lena Gwenith in the background looks up]] / Tess Miller: Yes, sir. / Danny Relston: Good girl.

thistle salad - 000155 - a murder of men (prologue) Lena Gwenith: She's dangerous. / Danny Relston: Difficult to find someone who isn't, these days. Tess will do what she's told. It's all she knows how to do. / Danny Relston: Say, Lena...? / Lena Gwenith: It's not a uniform. This is how I dress. Sir. / Danny Relston: Right. Right.
thistle salad - 000156 - armageddon girl [[Charity Ellsworth's lawyer Robert Baron is going into Charity's cafe. The Happy Cat Cafe.]] / [[He opens the door, and looks around as Susan Hunter runs by.]] / [[Close up on his eyes.]]
thistle salad - 000157 - armageddon girl [[Inside Charity Ellsworth's coffee shop, Charity embraces her lawyer, Mr. Robert Baron.]] / Charity Ellsworth: I'm so glad you came, Mr. Baron! / [[Charity Ellsworth steps back.]] / Mr. Baron: Now will you tell me what is troubling you, my dear girl? / Charity Ellsworth: It's Andrea. Again. I'm afriad that she might -- relapse. / Charity Ellsworth: She came in here talking about invisible men with swords and when I tried to point out that she isn't-- she can't-- she locked herself in upstairs. As if I have time to deal with her damn tantrums. I swear, it's like it doesn't even occur to her... / Charity Ellsworth: ...that... some of us... have to... work... for a living... / [[Charity slaps her forehead.]] / Charity Ellsworth: So I go and try to coerce someone who makes more money an hour than I make in a month to deal with her instead.
thistle salad - 000158 - armageddon girl [[Mr. Robert Baron and Charity Ellsworth talk inside the coffee shop. He's opening his briefcase.]] / Charity Ellsworth: Maybe I shouldn't have- / Mr. Baron: Nonsense. I've been meaning to stop by. I have some papers for you to sign. / Charity Ellsworth: Not again! / Mr. Baron: Litigation does not fuel itself, my dear. / Charity Ellsworth: But it's been twelve years! Isn't it time to stop? / Mr. Baron: Stop? Charity, this is your inheritence we're talking about- everything your father left you. / Charity Ellsworth: A decade wasted in court isn't much of an inheritance, Mr. Baron.
thistle salad - 000159 - armageddon girl [[Charity Ellsworth and Mr. Robert Baron are talking inside Charity's coffee shop.]] / Charity Ellsworth: Mr. Baron.... Look, what if I was somehow magically awarded all that money. Then what? / Mr. Baron: You wouldn't have to work anymore. / Charity Ellsworth: Now you sound like Andrea. As if... / Charity Ellsworth: Mr. Baron, you're a wealthy man. / Mr. Baron: Well, I-- / Charity Ellsworth: Oh please! You paid my tuition for private school and college. And you are financing this endless lawsuit in my name. And when An- when the... the gas line exploded you bought the building, paid for repairs, pacified the neighbors and made sure no one asked too many questions. And you had someone here to look after me when I was too busy with Andrea to bother with food and sleep. You are a man with money / Charity Ellsworth: And, if you wanted to, I suppose you could live quite comfortably without having to work?

thistle salad - 000160 - armageddon girl [[Mr. Robert Baron in the coffee shop.]] / Mr. Baron: Ah. I believe I see your point. / [[Charity Ellsworth in the coffee shop.]] / Charity Ellsworth: I'm happy with the place I've made for myself in this world. And your past generosity is already more than I can ever hope to repay. / [[Mr Baron and Charity Ellsworth face the coffee shop's counter.]] / Mr. Baron: I understand your position. / Charity Ellsworth: So you'll call off the suit? / Mr. Baron: No. Tying up your father's fortune in court seems a fitting tribute to her memory. / Mr. Baron: Besides, as you say, I like to keep myself busy.
thistle salad - 000161 - armageddon girl [[Mr. Robert Baron gives Charity Ellsworth a packet of papers.]] / Mr. Baron: Now, I will attend to the recalcitrant Miss Bright if you will attend to these papers. / Charity Ellsworth: Yes, sir. / [[Charity is petting her cat.]] / Charity Ellsworth: And do make an attempt to read them, Charity. I will, of course, discuss them with you when I return. / [[Charity Ellsworth picks up her cat. Mr. Baron moves off.]] / Mr. Baron: Poor Miss Bright. One really must feel sorry for her. / [[Charity Ellsworth is holding her cat.]] / Charity Ellsworth: Right. Because pity keeps you from strangling her.
thistle salad - 000162 - these are things that happen [[Kelly Kelsey stands by a lit candle in a dark room. Before her are a man and a small girl- who are backlit by sunlight. The girl is only maybe seven or eight- a very young Charity Ellsworth. The man whose face we never see- we only see the filthy, ragged sleeve of his overcoat- is her father, Rick Ellsworth.]] / Kelly Kelsey: I don't care whose daughter she is. What are you thinking, bringing a child here? / Rick Ellsworth: I didn't bring her here to dangle her in front of Bright. I want her to meet the lawyer. / Kelly Kelsey: [[rolls her eyes]] Yes, that makes all the difference. Hell. Might as well come in before you let in too much sunlight. I'm warning you though, there's no way to hide your presence from his lordship. / Rick Ellsworth: I'm willing enough to speak to Isaac if he'll see me.
thistle salad - 000163 - these are things that happen Kelly Kelsey: Whoa. Not you, Mister. You're not coming in until you've had a bath and some clean clothes. You know the way. I'll dig up some newer rags for you to wear. / Rick Ellsworth: Kelly... / Kelly Kelsey: It's either the bath-house or you're waiting outside. / Kelly Kelsey: I will shield the kid from your approaching humiliation, though. / Kelly Kelsey: Andrea!!
thistle salad - 000164 - these are things that happen [[Looking over the candle flame to see the stairs.]] / [[Andrea Bright, not much older than Charity is, descends the stairs (glowing?). The candle flame dies.]] / [[voiceovers]] / Kelly Kelsey: Couldn't be bothered to take the kid to the city yourself, huh? / Rick Ellsworth: Kelly, that's hardly fair-- / Kelly Kelsey: Fair? I don't need to hear about fair from you. I'm living with the consequences of your godsdamn hubris. How dare you bring another innocent into this? / Rick Ellsworth: She may be a child, but I'd hardly call Charity an innocent. / [[Andrea Bright has reached the bottom of the stairs. It's obvious that she wasn't always blind... ]] / Andrea Bright: Yeah? / Kelly Kelsey: [[Voiceover]] No. The children of magicians are never innocent, are they?

thistle salad - 000165 - these are things that happen Kelly Kelsey: We don't say "yeah" in this house, Andrea. We say "yes." / Andrea Bright: Yes, Miss Kelly. / Kelly Kelsey: That horrible Mr. Ellsworth is here and I need you to look after his little girl. / Andrea Bright: Yes, Miss Kelly. / Kelly Kelsey: [[Walking away]] And whatever awful mischief you get into, Andrea, just remember that I'm the one who's going to have to explain things to your father later, okay? And when he makes my life unpleasant, I make your life unpleasant, understand? / [[Andrea Bright is glaring at Charity Ellsworth who is, I think, looking up at her father, Rick.]]
thistle salad - 000166 - these are things that happen Kelly Kelsey: [[walking away]] Hey, Rick- I've got a big bottle of cheap whiskey that's supposed to go great with soap and water. / Rick Ellsworth: [[off screen]] Oh, very amusing. / Andrea Bright: [[to Charity]] Come on. You'd better not be afraid of the dark. / Rick Ellsworth: How big a bottle? / [[Andrea is definately kind of glowing.]]
thistle salad - 000167 - anna bloom vs. iron city (cover) [[Against an industrial pylon filled skyline and an orange sky, Anna Bloom stands, feet wide, a bloody kitchen knife in one hand. Her eyes are obscured by her hair, only the sign of the coin of the cup is barely visible on her forehead. Behind her, half hiding, is her sister Eliza Jane Rowlock, turning to face Ivan Churney as he appears in a cloud of smoke carrying a rose.]]
thistle salad - 000168 - armageddon girl [[Mr. Robert Baron knocks on Andrea Bright's door.]] / [[Andrea Bright is cleaning the barrel of a pistol on her bed. Saash, her dog, is wagging his tail.]] / Andrea Bright: Oh don't bother knocking, councilor. You may as well come in and get this over with. / Mr. Baron: Er, Miss Bright. How did you know it was... / Andrea Bright: Is this where I'm to reveal under tactful questioning that I have returned to my old ways? That I have not, in fact, reformed? I'm afraid it's all rather prosaic. There are only two people whose approach causes this moronic display of tail-waving enthusiasm and your tread's too heavy to be Charity.
thistle salad - 000169 - armageddon girl [[Andrea Bright and Saash are on Andrea's bed. She is assembling a gun.]] / Andrea Bright: I'm not sure why she thinks I'd listen to you. / Mr. Robert Baron: I still guard your father's interests. / Andrea Bright: I'm the last thing my father is interested in. I've lost everything. / Andrea Bright: I'd- almost- rather I had died than to become this helpless.

thistle salad - 000170 - armageddon girl [[Mr. Robert Baron and Andrea Bright are talking in Andrea's bedroom. Andrea Bright is assembling a gun. Saash is asleep?]] / Mr. Baron: It is a little early to despair, Miss Bright. / Mr. Baron: You are just beginning to heal. Your strength will return in time. / Andrea Bright: I think time is running out. Hm. Perhaps I would like your reassurances, after all. / Andrea Bright: There is something happening out there. I'm not still delirious, am I? / Mr. Baron: Very well. I have also seen... signs... that disturb me. But I do not think there is any danger. / [[Andrea Bright has completed assembling her gun.]] / Andrea Bright: Yet.
thistle salad - 000171 - armageddon girl [[Mr. Robert Baron and Andrea Bright are talking in Andrea's bedroom. Saash looks quite happy. Andrea raises her gun.]] / Mr. Baron: Miss Bright- Andrea- Charity is worried about you. / Andrea Bright: There are worse things in this world than me.
thistle salad - 000172 - armageddon girl [[Susan Hunter in the hospital leans over her comatose boyfriend (John Price). She's just witnessed the slaying of a woman by the Red Rose Killer.]] / Susan Hunter: You have to wake up, baby. They're back. They're coming back. / [[Susan Hunter turns around and becomes blurry.]] / [[A nurse enters the room, and Susan Hunter has all but vanished.]] / Nurse: Strange. I could have sworn I saw someone...
thistle salad - 000173 - other people's sins [[The middle of the night and Grace Warfield in her prison cell - years before she's joined there by Lisa- lights her cigarette with what remains of her electrical powers.]] / [[as she exhales smoke, the 'camera' shifts to the view out of her window- the Polly D, DEEP's HQ.]]
thistle salad - 000174 - other people's sins [[Outline of the fortress against a starry sky with two moons.]] / John Diondel: - cut through the lower levels. It will take longer, but then again, there should be fewer patrols inclined to ask questions. / [[Victori Carslyle stands in a corridor lined with cells.]] / Victori Carslyle: But-- but there are people down here! / John Diondel: My dear, it wouldn't be a prison if there weren't prisoners.

thistle salad - 000175 - other people's sins [[Victori and John have detoured through the dungeon.]] / Victori Carslyle: I think we should let them out. / John Diondel: We can't afford to indulge in that sort of kindness, Carslyle. / Victori Carslyle: If- if I were in a cage, I would want someone to let me out. It wouldn't take a minute to pick those locks. / [[John is obviously trying not to lose his temper.]]
thistle salad - 000176 - other people's sins [[John Diondel and Victori Carslyle have taken a detour through the dungeon]] / Ty Gwenith: A bullet through the brain is a kindness too, girlie, but this is no place to be wasting your ammunition. / John Diondel: Hello, Gwenith. Good to see you're still speaking in complete sentences. / Ty Gwenith: Heh. I'm not so far gone I can't relish the misfortunes of others. <>, John, I can't tell you what it means to me to be incarcerated in a place where even the guards are looking to escape.
thistle salad - 000177 - other people's sins [[John Diondel and Victori Carslyle have taken a detour through DEEP's dungeon.]] / John Diondel: Miss Carslyle, I find you bewilderingly naive for someone who purports to be a professional criminal. Has it not occurred to you that I helped put many of these people here? Caution dictates that I would prefer to be far away were the cells opened. Secondly, even if I had an optimistic regard for human nature (or otherwise, do excues me, Mr. Gwenith)-- / Ty Gwenith: 'salright. / John Diondel: --releasing the prisoners is bound to attract the sort of attention I am trying to avoid. We will have enough trouble... escaping as it is.
thistle salad - 000178 - other people's sins [[John Diondel and Victori Carslyle have taken a detour through the fortress's dungeon.]] / John Diondel: Gwenith, I'm- / Ty Gwenith: When I get out of here, I'm going to hunt you down and kill you. / [[Ty's eyes and teeth gleam out from the darkness of his cell.]] / John Diondel: [[Lights Ty's cigarette with magic]] Very good. I'll look forward to it. / Ty Gwenith: mmm Cheers.
thistle salad - 000179 - other people's sins [[John and Victori Carslyle have taken a detour through the fortress's dungeons. Victori looks startled as John and the prisoner Ty Gwenith have reached some sort of accord.]] / John Diondel: I'm afraid Miss Carslyle and I have an appointment to keep. / Ty Gwenith: I wouldn't dream of detaining you. Good evening, Miss. / [[John grabs Victori's arm and drags her away.]] / John Diondel: Come along. / [[He drags her past a cell containing the occular red lion as Ty shouts after them]] / Ty Gwenith: Uh! Hey! Girl! Stick to the shadows! That illusion you're in won't fool anyone for long!
