Myron: Huh?

Myron: [[Looking up at the board impaled on his horns]] GA-A-AH!

Kogeru: ... How do you miss something like that?

Kalanu: [[Rubbing her temple]] (Illphi) .... They're all insane...

Kalanu: (Narrating) It didn't take any convincing to get the chief to agree on giving them some land to build a house on. Chief Waya was too busy to help in the construction himself, but he did offer his son's aid-
[[Diyero talks to the chief.]]

Kalanu: (Narrating) -As did the weaponsmith Gvnigeyona, and my father... - Who then decided to close the bar while he was helping build the house.
[[Chief Waya's son, Gvnigeyona and Goga stand at the ready.]]

Kalanu: (Narrating) Can't blame him... Our main customer was trying to hammer wooden boards together...
[[Diyero hammers his thumb and swears loudly.]]

Diyero: [[Holding his hand with a grimace of pain]] SUNNOVABITCH!
[[Kogeru, seeing Diyero, sighs and turns.]]

Kogeru: [[Spotting Hikari, after having nailed herself to a wall]] .............

Kogeru: .... How did you......?

Hikari: Don't ask... And don't tell anyone about this.

Diyero: [[Putting on a happy face and enthusiastically swinging a fist]] Well, we'd better get moving on talking to the chief about our little construction project, right?
Kogeru: ... Indeed.

Diyero: [[Walking off, motioning for the others to come along]] Let's go, then!
Myron: [[Speaking softly to Kogeru]] Why didn't you-
Kogeru: [[Speaking softly back]] Just let him be for now.

Myron: ... Oka-a-ay...
Kogeru: You too, Hikari.
Hikari: Hmph. I know when not to cross the line.

Kogeru: Let's go, then.
Mushin: ... I'm confused.

Myron: [[Patting Mushin's head]] Ano-o-other time, Mushin. Let's just go and ge-e-et a new house for us, okay?

Kalanu: [[Turning away to sweep]] -An uncomfortable subject? I know. See you later.
Diyero: [[Turning slowly toward the door]] ...

[[Sad, Diyero dodges an incoming kunai without even thinking about it.]]
Goga's voice: STOP MUTILATING MY DOOR!

Diyero: [[Smiling nervously]] I'll remember that.

[[As Diyero closes the door behind him, three kunai thunk into the door.]]
Hikari: Dammit!
Goga: You're paying for door repairs, you know.

[[Kalanu quietly sweeps the floor, working off her anger.]]
Diyero: [[Rubbing the back of his head nervously]] ... Uh, sorry about that. I didn't kno-

Kalanu: [[Not turning around]] Of course you didn't, but now you do.
Diyero: [[Looking away]] ..... Yeah... Now I do...

[[Kalanu glances behind her at Diyero, mildly surprised.]]

Diyero: [[Pointing at the door]] So... Uh, now that's all cleared up... I'll leave you to, uh, sweep.
Kalanu: ... She's dead too, isn't she?

Diyero: Huh? Who?
Kalanu: Your mother.

Diyero: Ha! Bet her mom gave all the sexy genes, too.
[[Kalanu glares at Diyero.]]

Kalanu: [[Storming away]] (Illphi) Dad, I'm gonna go clean up the kitchen in the back.
Kalanu's Father: Huh? All right, Ah guess...

Hikari: ... What's wrong with her? Other than Hairy Chin's sad attempt at hitting on her, that is.
Kalanu's Father: [[Shrugging]] I dunno. She was close to her mother, so she probably didn't like Diyero's comment.

Kogeru: ... "Was"? Ah...
Diyero: [[Looking distressed]] ... Oh... Sorry...

Myron: ... Ma-a-an... You screwed up this time...
Diyero: [[Glancing at Myron angrily]] Thanks a lot.

Hikari: Yeah, real smooth, tat-
Diyero: [[Clutching his forehead in anger]] Just shut-up for once, Hikari! All right? Jeez!

[[Kogeru holds Hikari back while she tries to throw kunai]]
Diyero: Goga, can I go talk to her?
Goga: Just don't try anything funny. She'll kick your ass.

Hikari: [[Dragging Diyero and Kogeru off]] C'mon, let's go.

Narrator: A little while later...
Hikari: [[Pointing to a cave littered with bodies]] Over there.
Diyero: [[Sarcastically]] Gee, thanks for showing us. I don't think we could have spotted it otherwise.

Hikari: [[Giving a thumbs-up]] You're welcome.
Diyero: [[Glances back at her irritably as he enters the cave]]

[[Dead cultists with kunai sticking out of them litter the ground.]]
Diyero: Yup, definitely them.

Diyero: [[To Kogeru and Myron]] The leader should be the one in yellow robes. Probably has a ruby ring, too.

Kogeru: [[Standing by such a body]] Found him. No ring, though.

Myron: Is tha-a-at important?
Diyero: [[Shrugging]] Eh, they're just an additional mark of status. I was just trying to point out an extra identifying mark to you guys.

Kogeru: [[Inspecting the remains]] Hmm. I don't see anything that suggests they're part of a network. Do you guys?

Hikari: [[Inspecting as well]] I don't see anything like that.
Myron: [[Also inspecting]] Me either... Now that I know what I'm looking for......

Diyero: Nope, looks like this was a small individual band. Let's pile the remains and burn them.

Diyero: People or not, they were demonic cult members, so it's always safest to burn the remains.
Kogeru: You're the expert.

[[The remains are set aflame.]]

Diyero: It's settled then! Though... Am I the only one kinda weirded out by staying in a man's house that we had to kill?

Hikari: Hmph. When I said that everyone made fun of me. I guess drunks can say anything and people will go along with it.
Diyero: [[Curling his fingers in annoyance]] That doesn't even make sense.

Hikari: Whatever.
Diyero: Besides, that was a temporary situation. Now that this is gonna be our home base... Yeah.

Kalanu's Father: Well, I'm sure if you tell the chief and the other villagers of your plans, they'll help you build a home large enough for all of you to stay in. Hells, I'll help if you want. I'm pretty good at construction.

Kalanu's Father: Built this bar and my house mostly on my own, with a little help from friends.
Kalanu: I thought Mom built most of the house.

Kalanu's Father [[Pointing]] ... Okay, fine. But I did build this bar.
Kalanu: [[Shrugging]] True enough, I guess.

This chapter is dedicated to the memories of Meeko and Belle Palazzo - Beloved pets and family members. They will be missed.

Kalanu: (Narrating) The village was, to say the least, relieved to find out Diyero and his friends - or rather, Hikari - had wiped out the cult problem.
[[A crowd of the village people give grateful expressions.]]

Kalanu: (Narrating) Many villagers had grown fond of the strange team, though, and feared that with their work finished, the slayers would leave. However, Diyero surprised us, and his friends, with a suggestion...
[[The people of the village discuss whether or not the slayers will leave now that their job is done.]]

Diyero: Ya know, who says we have to leave now? This is a nice little village, and... well... It would be nice to establish a base to come back to when we're taking a break.

Kogeru: Yes, that would be a good idea.
Hikari: Hmmmmmmm...
Diyero: [[Glaring at Hikari's lack of a real comment]] ... I'll take that as an agreement from you....

Myron: I don't mi-i-ind the idea. How 'bout you, Mushin?
Mushin: I get more lessons from Kalu-sensei?
Kalanu: What, now I'm your teacher?

Kalanu: [[Smiling endearingly at Mushin]] Heh. Yeah, I'll teach you more, Mushin.
Mushin: I like staying!
